What is Down Syndrome?

Down syndrome, also known as trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder. This disorder leads to physical growth delays, characteristic facial features, and mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. This genetic disorder is caused by the presence of a third copy of the chromosome 21.

There are many organizations around the world focused on helping those with down syndrome, such as the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Down Syndrome Federation of India.

The Organization:

Our goal is to raise awareness and money, a minimum of $1,000, for the Down Syndrome Federation of India. This money will help them aid as many people as possible to attend the Down Syndrome International Conference, which is happening in August.

Dr. Surekha Ramachandran founded the Down Syndrome Federation of India in 1984 and only began with six children. Today, countless children from, not just India but also the Middle East, are supported by this organization.

All the profits earned in this fundraiser, which will be a bake sale, will go entirely to this organization.
